Uttarakhand: Harish Rawat lashed out at the government over reverse migration, saying, “Give them land; what will people do with the sky?”

The government in Uttarakhand is continuously striving to promote reverse migration. This issue is also a subject of much political debate in the state. Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has criticized the Dhami government on this issue. He wrote that the state government is talking about reverse migration, but he is telling the government to give the people of Uttarakhand their land back; what will they do with the sky?
The other day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with officials on reverse migration and gave necessary instructions. CM Dhami said that the problem of migration has been a major challenge in the state. The state government has taken several important steps in the last four to five years to encourage reverse migration. Meanwhile, former CM Harish Rawat attacked the Dhami government using the issue of reverse migration. He wrote on his social media handle that the government is talking a lot about reverse migration, but he is telling the government to give the people of Uttarakhand their land back; what will they do with the sky?
Harish Rawat further wrote that instead of talking about reverse migration, attention needs to be paid to the migration that is currently happening. Today, a fearful Uttarakhand is leaving its villages and its homes. In his post, Harish Rawat also mentioned the attacks by wild animals and the damage being done to the fields. He wrote that leopards, tigers, elephants, bears, monkeys, and langurs coming from Uttar Pradesh, along with stray cattle, stray dogs, and pigs, have made life miserable for the villagers. Now the situation is such that their terror prevails not only in villages but also in small towns and remote neighborhoods of big cities. First, get rid of this problem, control it, and then talk about reverse migration, because reverse migration will only happen when there are opportunities there. How can you dream of reverse migration after destroying the opportunities there?
What is Reverse Migration: Due to the lack of basic facilities, people have been migrating from their villages for a long time. As a result, many villages in the state have become ghost villages, where today only a few elderly people remain. People only come to the villages for weddings, marriages, or religious ceremonies. In this situation, the government is working to repopulate the villages that have been emptied due to migration and is encouraging people to return to their villages. The government is implementing numerous employment and self-employment schemes to help people settle in their villages, so that they remain connected to their communities and do not have to migrate due to a lack of basic amenities.
