Amidst the political turmoil surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process across the country, its seriousness is now clearly visible in Uttarakhand as well. Not only the Election Commission, but also the major political parties in the state are on high alert regarding SIR. This is why political parties have started preparing detailed records of their nominated members down to the booth level.

Political Activity in Uttarakhand Regarding SIR: Transparency in voter lists during elections has always been a major challenge. In these circumstances, political parties have often leveled accusations of tampering with voter lists against each other. Meanwhile, the discussion surrounding the Special Intensive Revision process has become a new issue for political parties. In Uttarakhand, political parties are now moving beyond mere discussion and are actively working on the ground in this direction.

Political Parties Intensify Preparations: Understanding the importance of SIR, the parties have intensified their preparations for this responsibility. The party leadership’s focus is clear: to entrust this responsibility only to capable and trustworthy workers who not only understand the electoral processes but also have a firm grasp of technical and sensitive issues like SIR.

Political Parties Working on a War Footing: It is claimed that both major political parties in Uttarakhand will submit the list of booth-level members to the State Election Commission by the end of December. Currently, work is underway on a war footing in this direction. The party organization is identifying workers who can understand this process in detail.

BLA Nominations to be Completed by the End of December: Prior to this, the process for BLA-1 nominations at the assembly constituency level has also been completed. Both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have submitted their respective lists of 70 BLA-1 members to the State Election Commission. Although the Election Commission has repeatedly given deadlines for BLA (Booth Level Agents) nominations, it is now believed that all the necessary lists will be submitted to the commission by the end of December. Here’s how the Congress party is preparing for the SIR (Special Summary Revision): The opposition party, Congress, has not only identified 70 BLA-1s (Booth Level Agents – Level 1) but has also almost finalized a list of approximately 11,700 party workers at the booth level. Congress has also appointed in-charges who are playing a crucial role in preparing the list of BLA-2s (Booth Level Agents – Level 2) in collaboration with the BLA-1s.

The BJP is not far behind: The Bharatiya Janata Party is also in the race. After organizational discussions across the state, they are close to finalizing their second list. Significantly, while political rhetoric and accusations continue nationwide regarding the SIR, parties in Uttarakhand are focusing on groundwork. Even though the opposition is raising questions about the Election Commission, all parties, understanding the importance of the SIR from an electoral perspective, are busy deploying their workers as BLAs.

Understanding the process is crucial for BLAs: The parties are trying to select workers who deeply understand this process. The nominated BLAs will also be given training and necessary information at the party level so that they can effectively and accurately fulfill their responsibilities.

BJP expects the list to be ready before the deadline: BJP State General Secretary Kundan Parihar says that he himself was present at the meeting held by the State Election Commission. He is confident that the list of BLA-2s will be prepared and submitted to the commission before the December deadline set by the commission.
