A shocking incident has come to light from Uttarkashi district. A fire broke out in a two-story house in the Barkot area. People scrambled to escape the sudden and fierce blaze. However, a two-and-a-half-month-old baby girl died in the fire.

Fire in a two-story house
The incident occurred in Koti Gagtadi, Barkot. On Sunday evening, a fire suddenly broke out in the two-story house of Shailendra Chauhan, a resident of the Lasari Name Tok area. All the belongings in the house were destroyed. Tragically, a two-and-a-half-month-old baby girl of Nepali origin, Man Bahadur, died in the fire.

Family fled, leaving the two-and-a-half-month-old baby behind
Eyewitnesses said that the fire spread very rapidly in the house. The people inside managed to escape, but the infant was trapped in the flames and could not be saved. The family is devastated by the death of the child.

Baby burned alive
Upon receiving information about the fire, a team from the revenue department reached the spot. The exact cause of the fire is not yet clear from the initial investigation. According to local villagers, there are insufficient resources to fight fires in the hilly area, which is leading to significant damage in such incidents. The people have demanded immediate relief and financial assistance for the family from the administration.
