BJP municipal councilor Renu Chaudhary has landed in controversy over a conversation with a foreign national of African origin in a public park in Delhi. A video of the incident is going viral on social media, in which she is seen telling the foreign national to learn Hindi. Following the video’s release, the councilor has issued a clarification.
Renu Chaudhary stated that the African national in question has been living in the area for approximately 15 years and provides private football coaching. According to her, about 20 African nationals were present in the park on the day the video was filmed. The councilor said that most MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) employees do not know English, and despite living in the area for so many years, the coaches’ lack of basic Hindi makes communication difficult, leading to misunderstandings.
She also claimed that she had received complaints about drug trafficking in the area and had gone to the park to investigate. Renu Chaudhary said that her intention was not to threaten anyone, but simply to advise them to learn Hindi to facilitate easier communication.
