The Ankita Bhandari murder case has once again come into the spotlight. The case has resurfaced after a video was released on social media by Urmila Rathore, the alleged wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore. In the video, Urmila Rathore makes serious allegations, mentioning alleged immoral activities at the Uttarakhand Assembly and a name, “Gattu,” allegedly connected to the Ankita murder case. The video’s virality has intensified political activity.

Congress protests against the government
In protest, the Uttarakhand Mahila Congress (Women’s Congress) held a strong demonstration in the capital on Tuesday. Women Congress workers raised slogans against the BJP government, burned an effigy of the government, and demanded a high-level investigation into the entire matter. During the protest, the workers stated that only assurances have been given so far in the name of delivering justice to Ankita Bhandari, while the government seems to be avoiding bringing the truth to light.

Congress reiterates demand for CBI investigation
Uttarakhand Mahila Congress state president Jyoti Rautela said during the protest that Urmila Rathore’s video has raised several serious questions. She alleged that if a VIP is involved in the case, a fair investigation is necessary. Rautela said that the case should now be investigated by the CBI so that the truth can be revealed. During the protest, the Congress warned that if the government does not take the demand for a CBI investigation seriously, the movement will be intensified. They said that if necessary, they would also gherao (surround) the Chief Minister’s residence.
