Uttarakhand: The Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy has begun; the champion will receive a cash prize of 5 lakh rupees

The Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy commenced on Tuesday at the Yogsthali Sports Complex in Haridwar. Approximately 200,000 athletes will participate in this competition, which will be held at four levels, from the Nyaya Panchayat (village council) level to the state level. Minister Rekha Arya inaugurated the competition by hoisting the flag and lighting the torch.

Sports Minister inaugurates Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy
This year, the Sports Mahakumbh (mega sports event) is being organized in a new format as the Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy 2025-26. The competition is being held in four phases: Nyaya Panchayat, Assembly constituency, Parliamentary constituency, and state level. Speaking at the inauguration, Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that a total of 26 sports events have been included this time, encompassing both modern and traditional sports.

Champions to receive Rs 5 lakh
Minister Rekha Arya announced that the team winning the Parliamentary Trophy will receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, and the team winning the Assembly Trophy will receive Rs 1 lakh. The minister said that the BJP government has taken policy decisions in the interest of athletes, which have changed the sports landscape in the state and fostered a sports culture. She added that the winners of this championship will also be entitled to a four percent reservation in government jobs.

Rs 1 lakh for breaking national records
Minister Rekha Arya urged young people to pursue sports not as a pastime but as a career. She said that if they dedicate themselves to the sport with 100% discipline and commitment, nothing can stop them from becoming champions. An additional incentive of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for athletes who break national records. The overall champion will be selected based on the total points accumulated from the medals won during the competition. The winning athlete will receive the Chief Minister’s Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
