Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Atal Smriti Lecture Series-2025 program, organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at Lekhak Gaon Thano, Dehradun on Thursday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Atal Auditorium.
Paying tribute to Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that it was our revered Atal ji who granted statehood to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He said that this program is a meaningful effort to convey his thoughts, democratic values, and patriotic spirit to the younger generation. The Chief Minister said that Atal ji’s entire life was a living symbol of patriotism, democratic principles, and human values.
The Chief Minister said that Atal ji, as a powerful poet, gave voice to emotions through his words. The Chief Minister said that it will always be a matter of pride for him that during his student life, as an ABVP worker in Lucknow, he received the guidance and blessings of the late Atal ji. He said that as the Prime Minister of the country, the late Atal ji paved the way for making India a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant nation.
The Chief Minister said that from the Pokhran nuclear tests to the Golden Quadrilateral project, from the Gram Sadak Yojana (Rural Roads Scheme) to the telecommunications revolution, every decision of his gave India a new direction. He successfully completed the full term of a coalition government for the first time in the country, proving that when the objective is the progress and upliftment of the nation, different parties can also unite and run the government. Atal ji initiated a new work culture in the country based on service, good governance, and welfare of the poor, which played a significant role in connecting even the person standing in the last row to the mainstream.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NDA coalition government in the country is working towards making India strong, prosperous, capable, and self-reliant. Today, special action plans are being formulated for every sector, and work is being done in a planned manner towards building a developed and self-reliant India. The dream of a self-reliant India is being realized through initiatives like Startup India, Vocal for Local, Make in India, Skill India, and Digital India. The Chief Minister said that world-class projects like expressways, ring roads, highways, and elevated roads are becoming the hallmark of a new India. 99 percent of India’s villages have been connected by roads, and 34 kilometers of highways are being constructed daily in the country. He said that the revered Atal Ji had a very close and deep connection with Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. It was his government that established the state of Uttarakhand, fulfilling our long-cherished dreams.
The Chief Minister said that inspired by Atal Ji and under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working with the aim of fulfilling the aspirations of the people. The state government has formulated numerous schemes for the welfare of every section and sector of society, from villages to cities, from farmers to youth, from women to laborers, and from traders to employees, and has effectively implemented them on the ground.
The Chief Minister said that the survey report of the Migration Prevention Commission has recorded a remarkable 44 percent increase in reverse migration. The state has secured the first position nationwide in increasing farmers’ income. Our state has also emerged as a leading state in the country in providing employment opportunities to the youth. Our state has secured the first position in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals Index for the year 2023-24, released by NITI Aayog. Along with this, several historic decisions have also been taken.
