Former soldier Kalam Singh Bisht, who won the 120-kilometer ultra-marathon in Oman, met with Chief Minister Dhami. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes. Kalam Singh Bisht, a former soldier and international athlete from Mundoli village in the Dewal block of Chamoli district, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence. On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored him for securing first place in the extremely challenging 120-kilometer ultra-marathon competition held in Oman.
The Chief Minister said that Kalam Singh Bisht’s historic achievement is a matter of pride not only for Uttarakhand but for the entire country. By securing first place among thousands of athletes from around the world in this difficult competition held on desert and rocky terrain, he has brought glory to India.
Chief Minister Dhami said that Bisht had previously served in the prestigious 4th Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army, and his military discipline, strong will, and dedication are still reflected in his personality. After serving the country, he has also brought glory to India on the world stage through sports.
The Chief Minister said that the youth of the state should draw inspiration from Kalam Singh Bisht’s life, learning that with hard work, discipline, and self-confidence, one can achieve excellence at the international level.
