Chief Minister Dhami has issued strict instructions to officials regarding the “Government for the People, at the People’s Doorstep” campaign being run in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister directed that under this program, officials should personally visit the homes of disabled persons, the elderly, women, and other vulnerable beneficiaries who cannot reach the camps. They should fill out applications on the spot and resolve their problems. Furthermore, CM Dhami unequivocally stated that this campaign should not become a mere formality under any circumstances.

In fact, CM Dhami reviewed the “Government for the People, at the People’s Doorstep” program at his official residence on Wednesday. During the review, the Chief Minister said that the objective of this review was to give more momentum to the program, make it results-oriented, and deliver real benefits to the public. The Chief Minister clarified that this program is not a platform for inspection, but for service and solutions. Therefore, information about the camps should be disseminated widely in advance, and they should be organized in a festive manner. Publicity should be done in the local languages of the state, Garhwali, Kumaoni, and other local dialects, so that people can easily connect with the program.

He said that people should not have to wander around for applications, and a time limit should be set for the resolution of every problem. This campaign should not be limited to merely listening to problems, but should be a part of the entire solution process. Where immediate solutions are possible, action should be taken on the spot. Where it takes time, a time limit and responsibility should be fixed, and the beneficiary should be informed. If the feedback from any area is not satisfactory, a camp will be set up there again. The Chief Minister also directed the participation of Mahila Mangal Dals (women’s groups), self-help groups, Yuva Mangal Dals (youth groups), and elected representatives.

The Chief Minister said that a list of recurring problems should be compiled and presented to the government. Weekly progress reports must be sent to the Chief Minister’s office, and departments working at a slow pace should be identified.

The Chief Minister informed that more than 56,550 people have participated in this campaign so far. Recently, the Chief Minister himself visited a camp in Almora without prior notice and took feedback from the public. The Chief Minister clarified that he would continue to conduct surprise inspections of the camps to ascertain the ground reality.

The Chief Minister said that elected representatives should also play an active role on the ground. They should not limit themselves to the stage but should go to the stalls and interact with citizens. Special assistance should be provided to the elderly, women, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable sections of society regarding applications, documents, and eligibility procedures. The focus should be solely on providing solutions, support, and communication. The Chief Minister instructed that District Magistrates/Chief Development Officers should also visit the camps without prior notice. More than one camp should be set up in large Nyaya Panchayats, and camps should also be organized in remote rural areas. Facilities such as Aadhaar card updates and Ayushman card issuance should also be made available.
