There is widespread anger in Uttarakhand over the demand for justice in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. BJP leaders are facing protests in several places. Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar MP Ajay Bhatt was also not spared. His convoy was shown black flags by Congress workers and local residents while passing through Jaspur.
The sudden display of numerous black flags by Congress workers and local residents caused a commotion in the police vehicle leading the convoy. The police officers quickly got out and escorted MP Ajay Bhatt’s vehicle forward, but by then, those demanding justice in the Ankita Bhandari murder case had already made their point by showing the black flags.
Black flags shown to MP Ajay Bhatt’s convoy: MP Ajay Bhatt, representing the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar Lok Sabha constituency, had arrived in the Jaspur assembly constituency. However, Congress workers showed black flags to MP Ajay Bhatt at Subhash Chowk in Jaspur and raised slogans. This incident raised questions about the security of the MP and the police administration’s security arrangements.
Police detained those who showed black flags: The Congress protesters stopped the convoy and protested loudly, raising slogans. The Congress workers, demanding the death penalty for Ankita Bhandari’s murderers, stopped MP Ajay Bhatt’s convoy at Subhash Chowk and showed black flags in protest. Later, the Jaspur Kotwali police took three Congress workers into custody.
“This protest was held to demand punishment for the accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. The way Urmila Sanawar is exposing the reality of BJP leaders, we showed black flags demanding a CBI inquiry and an impartial investigation to ensure strict action against the culprits in the entire case,” said Sukhbir Singh Bhullar, a Congress worker.
MP Ajay Bhatt’s statement: Regional MP Ajay Bhatt said that the accused are already serving their sentences in jail. If anyone has evidence, they should present it in court instead of sharing it on social media. “Whoever mistreated Ankita Bhandari should not be spared under any circumstances. Those who were directly prosecuted are in jail and serving life sentences. Their trial is also ongoing in court. If anyone has any evidence, they should present it in court, not through social media.”
