Uttarakhand: The Chief Minister has given strict instructions to officials: take strong action against elements that disrupt law and order in the state

Chief Minister Dhami reviewed traffic management, tourist facilities, and law and order at the Secretariat on the occasion of the New Year 2026. The Chief Minister instructed that special attention be paid to traffic management in the state until January 5, 2026. He emphasized that along with maintaining better law and order, it must be ensured that tourists and visitors do not face any inconvenience. He directed the police to conduct regular night patrols. Senior police officers should also conduct on-site inspections of various areas from time to time to strengthen law and order and traffic management arrangements. Strict action should be taken against those who tamper with law and order in the state. These instructions were given by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to officials during a meeting at the Secretariat to review traffic management, tourist facilities, and law and order on the occasion of the New Year 2026.

The Chief Minister gave clear instructions to the officials in the meeting to maintain a robust law and order situation in the state. He said that those who commit criminal acts in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand will not be spared. The Chief Minister also directed that adequate security arrangements be made at major tourist destinations, high-traffic areas, and crowded places in the state. On the occasion of the New Year, instructions were given to ensure proper traffic management, basic amenities, and parking facilities in all districts, along with special vigilance against reckless driving and drunk driving, and adequate security arrangements around liquor shops. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to ensure the safety, comfort, and hospitality of all tourists visiting Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He also emphasized that the general public and tourists should not be unnecessarily harassed in the name of checking.

The Chief Minister said that encroachments on roads in Dehradun should be removed strictly. The district administration, municipal corporation, police, transport department, and MDDA should form a task force to continuously remove encroachments from the roads. Similar action should be taken continuously in other districts where there are problems of encroachment on roads. He instructed that fire safety and other necessary arrangements should be checked in crowded places, including hotels and resorts. It should be ensured that in case of any incident, the police reach the spot within 5 minutes.

The Chief Minister also directed that all arrangements be kept in order in view of the winter tourist season. Adequate arrangements should be made for information centers for the convenience of tourists. Considering public amenities, sufficient streetlights and bonfires should be arranged for the winter season. The Chief Minister also directed that special attention be paid to sanitation in the state and that a campaign be launched to eliminate plastic waste, adding that social, political, and religious organizations, as well as the general public, should be involved in this campaign.

Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Garhwal Commissioner and Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary Dhiraj Garbyal, Additional Director General of Police V. Murugesan, IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop, District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal, other senior officers of the government and police, and virtually by IG Kumaon Mrs. Riddhim Agarwal, all District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police, and Superintendents of Police.
