Uttarakhand: BJP Mahila Morcha stages massive protests against Congress in 304 constituencies across the state; BJP alleges Congress is spreading misinformation regarding the Ankita murder case

In protest against the confusion and baseless allegations being spread by the Congress party regarding the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha (women’s wing) held simultaneous and strong protests in all 304 mandals (local units) of Uttarakhand state.

BJP Mahila Morcha State President Smt. Ruchi Chauhan Bhatt launched a scathing attack on the Congress, stating that even on a heinous and sensitive crime, the Congress is only trying to gain political mileage. She said that the Congress has neither a vision for the development of the state nor any concrete agenda related to public welfare, which is why it is resorting to politics of misleading the public.

Ruchi Chauhan Bhatt said that after remaining silent for three and a half years, now, as the 2027 assembly elections are approaching, the Congress is raking up this issue again to regain its lost political ground. This exposes the Congress’s desperation and directionless politics.

She clarified that senior officers associated with the SIT (Special Investigation Team) investigation have already made it clear that there was no VIP involvement in this case. The Dhami government of Uttarakhand showed sensitivity and promptness by sending the accused to jail within 24 hours of the incident, forming an SIT, and ensuring a transparent investigation.

The State President informed that based on a 500-page charge sheet and statements from more than 100 witnesses, the culprits were sentenced to life imprisonment. The government provided assistance to the victim’s family at every level, and at the family’s request, the public prosecutor was changed three times, ensuring strong legal representation. As a result, the accused could not even get bail.

Today, Mahila Morcha workers in all 304 mandals of the state united to expose the false and misleading allegations of the Congress. The BJP Mahila Morcha stated that even after the court has pronounced the sentence against the culprits, the Congress’s attempt to use this issue as an election weapon is merely a political stunt.

Ruchi Chauhan Bhatt said that the BJP Mahila Morcha will continue to oppose this misleading politics of the Congress at every level and will strongly present the truth before the people of the state.
