Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami held a press conference on the Ankita Bhandari murder case. In his statement, he said that the government is ready to conduct any investigation demanded by Ankita’s parents. Following this statement, Uttarakhand Congress Committee State President Ganesh Godiyal said that the Chief Minister’s statement is not an expression of sympathy but an attempt to evade responsibility.

Ganesh Godiyal said that more than 15 days have passed since the sensational revelations made by actress and alleged wife of a former BJP MLA, Urmila Sanawar, regarding the Ankita case, and Chief Minister Dhami has finally spoken about the Ankita murder case after all this time. This shows how little importance he places on the people of Uttarakhand.

Godiyal said that the CM’s statement that “we are ready for any investigation” is disingenuous. If the government was truly ready to conduct every investigation in the Ankita case, then why did it shy away from a CBI investigation for three years? He said that the Chief Minister is also saying that he will talk to Ankita’s parents and the government will do whatever they order. Calling this statement an insult to the law, he said that investigations are conducted according to the law, not at the behest of the parents, and the Chief Minister’s job is to make decisions, not to shirk responsibility.

He questioned whether the government lacked independent thought until now? And whether the government was sleeping for three years? The Chief Minister is also saying that everything legally possible will be done, so he should explain which laws are hindering a CBI investigation?

Ganesh Godiyal said that why is an investigation under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge impossible? The truth is that the government is now under pressure and has been forced to issue a statement. The State President of the Congress party demanded that the state government should order a CBI investigation into the Ankita case under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge.
