The Congress party has launched an offensive against the government over the VIP controversy in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. On Wednesday, January 7th, PCC Chief Ganesh Godiyal held a press conference at the Congress state headquarters in Dehradun. During the press conference, he raised several questions about the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the VIP controversy, questioning the government’s handling of the matter. Ganesh Godiyal even stated that the BJP’s central leadership would have to replace the state leadership, otherwise the investigation into this case would continue to be compromised.

Ganesh Godiyal said that he felt the Chief Minister appeared quite uncomfortable during his response to a journalist’s question about the Ankita Bhandari murder case on Tuesday, January 6th. He suggested the Chief Minister’s discomfort stemmed from his alleged involvement in diverting and influencing the case from the very beginning, and in the destruction of evidence. This, he argued, explained the Chief Minister’s awkward response to the journalist’s question.

Ganesh Godiyal stated that he had asked several questions through various public servants regarding the Ankita Bhandari murder case, dissatisfied with the government’s explanations. He had recently submitted a questionnaire to a police officer, but has yet to receive any answers.

Ganesh Godiyal’s questions: Did the SIT investigate whether the resort room was demolished on the Chief Minister’s orders? Did the SIT question him on this matter, as the entire murder mystery revolves around that room? The Yamkeshwar MLA has openly admitted and even credited the Chief Minister with ordering the demolition of the resort.

Demand for an answer from CM Dhami: Ganesh Godiyal said that the mystery of the Ankita murder case cannot be solved until the intentions of the person who ordered the demolition of the room with a bulldozer are revealed. As the Chief Minister of the state, if he acknowledges giving these orders and reveals his intentions behind them, then he can shed light on the matter. Ganesh Godiyal expressed apprehension that those in power would try to derail the investigation at every step. Therefore, he said, this investigation cannot reach its conclusion as long as they remain in power. He questioned the fact that more than 90 witnesses were included in the SIT investigation, but asked how many of them have actually testified. He demanded that the Chief Minister answer this question, but instead of providing answers, the Chief Minister is trying to divert attention from the issue.

Ganesh Godiyal strongly objected to the BJP’s statements, saying it was unfortunate that the opposition was being asked to provide evidence. He stated that no results can be expected from those currently in power in the state. Therefore, the BJP’s central leadership will have to replace the state leadership, otherwise the investigation into this matter will continue to be compromised. He asserted that sooner or later, the BJP’s central leadership will inevitably have to change the leadership in the state. During this time, he demanded an immediate CBI investigation into the matter, supervised by a sitting judge of the High Court or the Supreme Court.
