A shocking case has emerged from Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh. A 14-year-old minor girl, a student of class 8, is accused of mixing sleeping pills in her family’s food so she could meet her boyfriend. The matter came to light when her father caught her red-handed with her lover.

The girl’s father works as a painter and polisher in Mumbai, while the minor lived in the village with her mother and elderly grandmother. About a month ago, the father returned home from Mumbai. During this time, he became suspicious of his daughter’s behavior, as she insisted on having dinner early every day.

Due to his suspicion, one day the father pretended to eat but secretly hid his food and feigned sleep. Around 11:30 PM, the daughter quietly left the house and went to the house of a 22-year-old neighbor who lived about 200 meters away. The father followed her and caught them together. The young man allegedly abused the father and threatened to kill him, forcing him to leave. Later, upon returning home, when the father questioned his daughter strictly, she confessed that she had been in contact with her boyfriend for the past year. The young man had provided her with a mobile phone and sleeping pills, which she used to make her mother and grandmother fall asleep.

Upon learning of the incident, the family filed a complaint against the young man at the local police station. The police have started an investigation based on the complaint. Since the case involves a minor, action is likely to be taken under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections of the law.
