Today, on January 14th, a huge crowd was seen at Har Ki Pauri on the occasion of Magh Makar Sankranti. Despite the biting cold, devotees took a dip in the Ganges River in Haridwar. The palanquins carrying the idols of deities were also given a ritual bath.

Magh Makar Sankranti began with dense fog and cold weather. Despite this, a large number of devotees arrived to take a holy dip. The palanquins carrying the idols of deities were also brought to the ghat with the rhythmic beats of drums and other musical instruments, and the idols were given a ritual bath in the Ganges. A large number of people reached Har Ki Pauri Ganga Ghat to take a dip. Despite the cold, the enthusiasm among the people did not diminish. People were seen bathing and performing puja during this time.

Auspicious conjunction of Sankranti and Ekadashi after 23 years
Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the sun from its southward to northward journey. The entry of the sun from one zodiac sign to another is called Makar Sankranti. This year, Ekadashi and Sankranti fell on the same day, creating an auspicious and fruitful conjunction. Therefore, bathing on this day is considered highly auspicious.
