The theft took place in Badripura, a posh area of the city where the SSP’s residence, the police station, and other officials’ residences are located. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear among the local residents. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed near the house. The thief is clearly visible carrying a box in the CCTV footage.
Theft committed by a man posing as a tenant
According to reports, a man posing as a tenant committed the theft when he found an opportunity. A woman was alone in the house at the time of the incident. The thief fled with a box containing jewelry and cash. Upon learning of the theft, the local councilor and residents immediately informed the police. After receiving the information, the Haldwani police team, along with the station house officer, reached the spot and started the investigation.
