The district administration in Rudraprayag has taken a strict stance against rumors circulating regarding the traditional Devara Yatra of Maharishi Agastyamuni Maharaj. The district administration has clarified that reports of a case being filed against the palanquin (doli) of Muni Maharaj are completely misleading and false. The administration has warned of action against those spreading rumors on social media.

Public property damaged by unruly elements: DM
According to the administration, during the Devara Yatra, some unruly elements, under the guise of religious tradition, created disorder, engaged in violence, and damaged public property. The main gate of the sports complex was damaged, and traffic on National Highway-107 was disrupted for three to four hours, causing inconvenience to citizens, travelers, and tourists.

District Magistrate Prateek Jain clarified that the district administration fully respects religious beliefs and traditions, but those who tamper with law and order will not be spared under any circumstances. He said that action has only been taken against those unruly elements who indulged in violence, damaged government property, and blocked the national highway.

No case registered against Muni Maharaj’s palanquin: DM
On January 16, an 11-member delegation, including the president of the Agastyamuni Temple Committee and the Panch Padan of Panchkoti, met with District Magistrate Prateek Jain. During the meeting, it was clarified that there is complete coordination between the temple committee and the district administration, and Muni Maharaj’s palanquin will complete its Devara Yatra without any hindrance.

The administration also clarified that some unruly elements are deliberately spreading the misconception that a case has been registered against Muni Maharaj’s palanquin, which is completely baseless. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ukhimath Anil Shukla stated that no case has been registered against the palanquin. He said that instead of the traditional route, the palanquin was forcibly brought through the main gate of the sports ground, and the gate was damaged in a pre-planned manner.
