If you are traveling to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand or driving locally, make sure your vehicle documents are in order. The Transport Department is implementing an e-detection system from January 19th. Through this system, vehicles entering Uttarakhand without valid insurance, permits, pollution certificates, or fitness certificates will be automatically fined. E-monitoring and e-challans will be implemented at seven toll plazas.

Deputy Transport Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Tiwari said that under the e-detection system, vehicle numbers will be connected in real-time to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Vahan portal. This will enable e-monitoring and e-challans of vehicles. The system will check vehicle permits, insurance certificates, pollution certificates, fitness certificates, and road tax. If any document in the database is expired or invalid, the system will flag it as a defaulter.

Vehicles 15 years or older will also be identified. In case of a violation, an e-challan will be issued, and the vehicle owner will receive an SMS on their mobile number. Payment can be made online. In the first phase in Uttarakhand, e-challans will be issued for vehicles with expired permits, insurance, or fitness certificates.

E-monitoring of vehicles will be done at these toll plazas:

  • Bahadrabad Toll Plaza, Haridwar
  • Bhagwanpur Toll Plaza, Haridwar
  • Lachhiwala Toll Plaza, Dehradun
  • Jagtapur Patti Toll Plaza, Udham Singh Nagar
  • Banushi Toll Plaza, Udham Singh Nagar
  • Nagla Toll Plaza, Udham Singh Nagar
  • Devaria Toll Plaza, Udham Singh Nagar

1569 vehicles with expired permits and fitness certificates identified during the trial

Deputy Transport Commissioner Shailesh Tiwari said that the system was launched on Saturday with a manual trial. During this trial, a list of 49,060 vehicles from all seven toll plazas was received by the e-detection system in one day. Of these, 1569 vehicles were identified with expired permits and fitness certificates. The trial has been successfully completed.
