Uttarakhand: Controversy erupts over ban on entry of non-Hindus at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar; Congress targets BJP

Political controversy has erupted over posters put up at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, a holy city, prohibiting the entry of non-Hindus. Uttarakhand Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal has also issued a statement on the matter. He said that the BJP’s thinking on religious matters is completely unclear.
Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal said that he has repeatedly advised the government and the Bharatiya Janata Party to create employment opportunities for the bright future of the state’s youth, which is why the people of the state elected the BJP. It would be better if the BJP focused its attention on this.
State president Ganesh Godiyal said that the people of the state are now not liking the BJP’s unnecessary interference in religious matters. If the BJP focuses on development, their leaders will automatically refrain from such issues. Therefore, they should focus on the issues for which the public elected the BJP.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has termed the Congress’s objection to the issue of non-Hindu entry in the Kumbh area as part of its appeasement policy. BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said that after facing defeat in the Ankita Bhandari case, the Congress is now looking for new excuses for protest.
Responding to questions from reporters at the party headquarters on Saturday, BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said that the sentiments of Sanatan Dharma should be respected on the issue of prohibiting non-Hindu entry in the Haridwar Kumbh area. The objections raised by the opposition on this issue are all motivated by the politics of appeasement. First of all, this rule is already established there, so the traditions of all religious leaders and the local priestly community should be followed. When non-Muslims are prohibited from entering religious sites like Mecca and Medina, then the sentiments of Sanatan Dharma should also be respected.
It should be noted that posters prohibiting the entry of non-Hindus have been put up at various places on Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar. The posters put up at Har Ki Pauri clearly state that the entry of non-Hindus is prohibited in this area. All these posters have been put up by the Ganga Sabha. The Ganga Sabha manages the affairs of the Har Ki Pauri area. The posters state that this area falls under the 1916 Municipal Act of Haridwar and that entry is prohibited for non-Hindus.
