US President Donald Trump was already upset about not receiving the Nobel Prize, but now his anger is openly visible. Trump has threatened Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in a letter. In the letter, Trump mentioned not receiving the Nobel Prize, stating that since he didn’t receive the peace prize, peace is no longer a priority for him. He is now directly demanding Greenland.

Donald Trump wrote a threatening letter to the Norwegian PM
On Monday, January 19, 2026, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre confirmed that he had received a message from Trump. The message stated that since he didn’t receive the Nobel Prize, he is no longer obligated to pursue peace.

If not the Nobel Prize, then Greenland…
Trump told Norway to tell Denmark to hand over Greenland to the United States. Trump wrote in the letter, “Since your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing eight wars, I no longer need to think only about peace. While peace will always be paramount, I can now consider what is good and right for the United States.”

Now Trump wants Greenland!
Donald Trump further stated, “Denmark cannot defend that land (Greenland) from Russia or China. Besides, Denmark doesn’t have any written documents, so how can they claim ownership? All they have is that a ship landed there hundreds of years ago, but our ships also landed there.”

Who awards the Nobel Prize?
It’s worth noting that this is not the first time Trump has targeted Norway for not awarding him the Nobel Prize. However, it’s important to understand that the Norwegian government does not decide who receives the Nobel Prize. This decision is made by an independent committee based in Oslo.
