News is emerging regarding Eternal Ltd., Zomato’s parent company. Deepinder Goyal has resigned from his position as CEO of Zomato, effective February 1, 2026. However, he is not leaving the company entirely. He will now assume a new role as Vice Chairman and Director on the board.
Deepinder Goyal Resigns as Zomato CEO
This decision comes at a time when the company reported a remarkable 73% year-on-year increase in net profit in its third-quarter (Q3) results, reaching approximately ₹102 crore. This reflects the company’s strong position in the quick commerce and food delivery business.
Goyal’s Letter to Shareholders
In a letter to shareholders, Goyal stated, “Recently, I have been drawn to some new ideas. These involve high-risk exploration and experimentation. These are ideas that can be better pursued outside of a public company like Eternal.”
Albinder Dhindsa to Take Over
Goyal further explained that Dhindsa will now take over the position. He said, “As Group CEO, he will be responsible for day-to-day operations, operating priorities, and business decisions.” He added that Dhindsa spearheaded the acquisition of Blinkit and its journey to profitability. He is “fully capable” of leading Eternal as Group CEO.
