Police are on high alert ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit. Late Tuesday night, Haridwar police stopped the vehicle of Uttarakhand Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela, who was traveling from Haldwani to Haridwar, at the Chidiyapur border.

For several hours, police barricaded the road and detained Mahila Congress State President Jyoti Rautela. Following this, a crowd of other Congress workers gathered there and started shouting slogans against the police.

She had planned to submit a memorandum to Amit Shah
Jyoti Rautela had stated that she intended to meet Home Minister Amit Shah to submit a memorandum regarding the suicide of farmer Sukhwant Singh in Rudrapur and the statement of Girdhari Lal Sahu. The Congress party termed this police action as arbitrary.
