The Uttarakhand Congress has strongly condemned the mistreatment of Jagatguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand of Jyotirmath Peeth in the holy city of Prayagraj. The Congress party has decided to protest against this incident. In protest against the mistreatment of the Shankaracharya, the Congress party has decided to hold a fast at temple premises on January 24th and 25th.

The party’s state president, Ganesh Godiyal, said that the mistreatment of a revered saint like the Shankaracharya is not only unfortunate but also a direct attack on our cultural and religious traditions and Sanatani values, which should be condemned in the strongest terms. He said that the saint community has always guided the nation. Respecting them is the responsibility of every government and society.

Ganesh Godiyal said it is regrettable that such incidents are happening in Uttar Pradesh under the protection of the ruling power, tarnishing the image of the state and the country. This is a result of the administrative insensitivity and arrogance of the BJP governments that even revered saints holding the highest positions in Sanatan Dharma are being subjected to humiliation. The Congress is committed to protecting the dignity of Sanatan Dharma, along with respecting all religions and the saint community.

The party’s outgoing media in-charge, Rajiv Maharshi, informed that on the call of party president Ganesh Godiyal, a two-hour silent fast program will be organized on January 24th and 25th at temple premises in all assembly constituencies across the state. He said that Congress workers across the state will observe a two-hour silent fast at temple premises in all assembly constituencies on these two days to register their protest against the mistreatment of Jagatguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand.
