Uttarakhand CM Dhami honored the players with “Khel Ratna” and “Trainer Dronacharya” awards, Dhami said – we brought revolutionary sports policy
To encourage the players of Uttarakhand, the Sports Department organized a felicitation ceremony. In this felicitation ceremony, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the players with Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award and Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Award. During this, he also honored the players and coaches with cash prizes. Badminton player Lakshya Sen and renowned athlete Chandan Singh, who have brought laurels to the country and the state at the international level, were honored with the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna. The Uttarakhand government had already released the list of names of players and coaches to be honored with the Dronacharya and Khel Ratna awards for the years 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22. Under which the player honor ceremony was organized at Dehradun Parade Ground today. Wherein, Chief Minister Dhami honored all the players and coaches.
On this occasion, CM Pushkar Dhami said that the players of Uttarakhand are not only participating in national and international competitions, but are also bringing laurels to Uttarakhand and the country by winning medals. When a player wins a medal, he does not belong to just one family, but the spirit of the entire nation gets attached to him.
Dhami said that the sportspersons of the state have more enthusiasm than the Himalayas and more patience than the ocean. A new sports policy has been brought in order to make Uttarakhand a leading state in the field of sports. CM Dhami said that the children of poor families from the state who have talent but do not have the resources. They will get more benefit from sports policy.
CM said in Dhami that when the award is received, everyone asks for time to honor it and take a selfie. However, whatever policy the government has brought, it has set a target for it. At the same time, it is moving forward by fixing responsibility, output and accountability. The Uttarakhand government had started the Mukhyamantri Udayaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana, under which sports scholarship of Rs 1500 per month is being given to budding sportspersons in the age group of 8 to 14 years across the state.
At present, 3900 children of the state are getting the benefit of sports scholarship. It has been decided to re-implement sports quota in government jobs. Apart from this, it has also been decided to make Haldwani Stadium a sports university to provide better platform to the players.
The CM said that there was never a dearth of talent in India, but earlier the selection process used to be very rigged, but after the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the selection process has been made very simple and transparent.
Players and coaches were honored
1- Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Awards were given to the players for the years 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22.
2- Cash prizes were given to the national medal winning players and their coaches for the years 2021 and 2022.
3- Badminton player Lakshya Sen was awarded the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award for the year 2019-20.
4- Athlete Chandan Singh was awarded the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award for the year 2020-21.
5- Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Award for the year 2019-20 was given to badminton coach Dhirendra Kumar Sen.
6- Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Award for the year 2020-21 was given to Taekwondo instructor Kamlesh Kumar Tiwari.
7- Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Award for the year 2021-22 was given to archery instructor Sandeep Kumar Duklan.
At the same time, Suresh Chandra Pandey was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award as a coach.
