Uttarakhand: Approval of Rs 280 crore proposal for establishment of 18 thousand cluster based polyhouses under NABARD’s RIDF scheme

Under the vision 2025 of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the target of horticulture crops is to be doubled. In this sequence, approval of 280 crores has been received under NABARD’s RIDF scheme on the proposal of establishment of 18 thousand cluster based polyhouses to promote protected cultivation of vegetables and flowers in the state of Uttarakhand. Out of which 80 percent NABARD’s share is payable to the farmers in the form of grant, the remaining 20 percent will be the farmer’s share. Various works have to be done under this.

Out of 18 thousand polyhouses, vegetable production will increase from 6.57 lakh metric tonnes produced at present to about 7.50 lakh metric tonnes in 12 thousand polyhouses. In which there will be an increase of about 15 percent every year. Out of 18 thousand polyhouses, production of flowers in 6 thousand polyhouses will increase from 30.22 crore cut flowers produced at present to about 37 crore cut flowers, in which the production of flowers will increase by about 25 percent every year. Due to the timely arrival of fresh and quality products in the local mandis as well as in the mandis of Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, for the sale of vegetables and flowers produced in the state, fair price will be received.

Due to the income of the farmers from the cultivation of vegetables and flowers in the hilly areas of the state, social and economic growth will reduce the migration. Due to the increase in the production of vegetables in the state, there will be a decrease in the import of vegetables and flowers. It will be possible to supply raw material from the state itself to 1791 units to be set up under the Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Enterprises Upgradation Scheme. About 01 lakh people will get self-employment directly and indirectly under these 18 thousand polyhouses.
