Many jurists, thinkers and intellectuals have expressed their serious concern over its consequences on the family, which is the basic unit of society.

It further states, “Marriage in India is a socio-religious sacramental union not only between two individuals but also between two families. It is clear from time immemorial that the purpose of marriage is not just the physical closeness of the partners, but it goes much further than that. It is indispensable for the development of society through procreation.”

‘There should be opposition to the attempt to weaken the court’

The statement said, “Unfortunately, some groups with no knowledge and respect for the civilizational importance of marriage have approached the court to legalize same-sex marriage. Any attempt to weaken a great and time-tested institution should be strongly opposed by the society.”

‘Attacks on India’s cultural civilization continued for centuries’

“The Indian cultural civilization has been under constant attack for centuries, but it has survived against all odds. Now in independent India it is facing the imposition of western ideas, philosophies and practices on its cultural roots, which is not at all viable for this nation.”
