In the last several years there has been a discussion about cow urine. In Ayurveda, cow urine has been described as a remedy to avoid many diseases. Even in the disease of cancer, it has been said to cure it. In such a situation, a research of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute has come out, in which it has been told that drinking cow urine can be harmful for you. Not only this, it has also been told in this research that buffalo urine is better than cow urine. So, let us first know the disadvantages of drinking cow urine.

What does this research say about cow urine

A lot has been told in this research regarding cow urine. At the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Izzatnagar, Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, some students together have done a research on cow urine. It states that there are 14 types of bacteria in cow urine and most of them are E-coli (Escherichia coli) bacteria.

E-coli (Escherichia coli) bacteria is harmful for humans

Escherichia coli can cause stomach infections in humans and can make them seriously ill. Urine of 73 cows and buffaloes was taken for this research. In this, several breeds of cows such as Sahiwal, Tharparkar and Vindavi were included. In these, many types of bacteria were found in urine which can be very harmful. Not only this, it has also been told in research that buffalo urine is more beneficial than cow urine. Buffalo urine has more effective bacteria like S Epidermidis and E Rhapontici which can be beneficial in terms of health.

Buffalo urine is better than cows urine

The findings of the peer-reviewed research are published on the online research website ResearchGate. Singh, who heads the department of epidemiology at the institute, told TOI, “Statistical analysis of 73 urine samples from cow, buffalo and humans shows that the antibacterial activity in buffalo urine is far better than that of cows. Buffalo urine has a great effect on bacteria like S. epidermidis and E. rapontici.

Singh, who heads the department of epidemiology at the institute, said, “Urine cannot be recommended for human consumption in any case”. ) collected urine samples. Also took samples of buffalo and humans. Our study, conducted between June and November 2022, concluded that a large proportion of urine samples from apparently healthy individuals carried potentially pathogenic bacteria.
