On Saturday, 52 bundles of notes arrived in the currency chest of State Bank of India on the first day following the Reserve Bank of India’s directive to deposit Rs 2,000 notes by September 30. Earlier, only one or two bundles of notes used to reach every day. Each bundle contains 10 bundles of notes. In this way, 520 packets reached the currency chest on Saturday. That too when there was confusion in banks to take Rs 2000 note. At the same time, many branches including Chhipitola, Sadar Bazar, Shastripuram, Bodla, Kamla Nagar, Lohamandi were refused to accept Rs 2000 notes over the counter. Awaiting the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India, the banks pasted the notices at the gate to change the notes from May 23 itself.

ATMs will be rearranged
Banks have received guidelines from the Reserve Bank. The ATM will be reconfigured. Banks have been told not to issue Rs 2000 notes in bank holding currency chests. The notes which are coming to the currency chests from the bank branches will be immediately sent to the Reserve Bank. Banks have been asked to sort Rs 2000 notes through note shortening machines so that there is no scope for fake notes.

Note can be changed even if there is no account
Tax expert Deepak Maheshwari told that Rs 2000 note will remain in circulation till 30 September. People can receive it as payment, but the Reserve Bank has asked to deposit or exchange the notes before 30 September. For this the bank branch can be contacted. The branches where Rs 2,000 notes will be deposited will be sent to currency chests. Banks will no longer issue those notes to customers again. After being deposited in the currency chest, the notes will be sent to the Reserve Bank. From May 23, such people can also change the notes in the bank, who do not have an account. He can exchange notes up to Rs 20,000.
