Delhi: Manish Sisodia has got a big relief from the court

Manish Sisodia, the main accused in the Delhi Excise Policy case, has got immediate relief from the Delhi High Court. The court has reserved the decision on the interim bail plea of former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia. However, Manish will be allowed to meet his wife. The court has given this decision with some conditions. Manish has been allowed to meet his wife on Saturday, June 3. Sisodia appealed to the court to allow him to meet his ailing wife.

The court has given this permission on the condition that Manish will go to his home in police custody during this period. The condition is also that during this time Manish cannot talk to the media. Along with this, a ban has also been imposed on their use of mobile and internet. Manish will not talk to anyone except his family. This meeting can be held from 10 am to 5 pm.

With this, the Delhi High Court has directed that the medical reports of Sisodia’s wife be submitted by tomorrow evening (June 3 evening). Let me tell you, Manish Sisodia had demanded interim bail from the court citing the health of his wife. He had sought interim bail for six weeks in his petition. Whereas the Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed this application.

For this reason, Sisodia had filed a petition in the court earlier also, but it was withdrawn. However, he has claimed that his wife’s condition has worsened and hence she should be granted interim bail. On the other hand, the ED opposed this and said that Sisodia is making ‘Aadhaar’ for bail. ED’s lawyer says that earlier he did not have time to meet his wife. ED’s lawyer SV Raju argued in the court,

“Four days ago, he withdrew his plea. Now these people have come again. There has been no change in the condition of his wife. Only the form has changed.

What is the whole matter?
Sisodia is lodged in Tihar Jail for the last three months in connection with the alleged scam in excise policy. The Kejriwal government had implemented the new excise policy on 17 November 2021. The Delhi government had argued that the mafia rule would end by bringing a new excise policy. It was also claimed that this would increase the revenue of the state government.

In July 2022, the then Chief Secretary of Delhi submitted a report in this matter to LG VK Saxena. In this, along with disturbances in the excise policy, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was accused of giving undue benefits to the liquor traders. On the basis of this report, CBI had registered a case against 15 people including Sisodia on 17 August 2022. On August 22, the Enforcement Directorate registered a case of money laundering in the Excise Policy. CBI arrested Sisodia after 6 months of investigation.
