Britain: Boris Johnson came out of politics very shamelessly, the party forced him to leave the post of MP

The political career of Boris Johnson, who was a meteorite in British politics four years ago, has now come to an end. Johnson’s rise has been as rapid as his fall. Now his Conservative Party has forced him to leave the post of MP.

The Privileges Committee of the House of Commons, the lower house of the British Parliament, has come to the conclusion that the then Prime Minister Johnson lied in the Partygate case. Partygate was an incident during the Corona lockdown. It was alleged that at a time when Johnson’s government had imposed a strict lockdown on the entire country, parties were celebrated at the Prime Minister’s residence.

Johnson said on Friday night- ‘It is very sad to leave Parliament for the time being.’ Johnson used the word for the time being in his statement, about which analysts have said that the former Prime Minister has not given up hope of his political comeback. But Conservative Party sources said that Johnson had damaged not only his own reputation, but also the Conservative Party’s identity, by his conduct. So there is no place left for him in the party.

Johnson had to step down as Prime Minister in July 2022 due to a rebellion in his government. Since then he has been saying that he did nothing wrong. Rather, they claim that they have been treated unfairly. He has said- I am saddened and surprised by the way I have been thrown out.

Analysts have said that despite being embroiled in the Partygate scandal, no one expected Johnson’s political career to end so quickly. People close to Johnson have told media persons that the former prime minister is confident that public support will remain for him even if he leaves the party. His hopes are pinned on his popularity. An opinion poll released last month suggested that 64 per cent of Conservative Party supporters still have a positive opinion of Johnson.

Johnson had sharply polarized the country by taking an aggressive stand on the Brexit issue. From that his star shone and in the middle of 2019 he became the Prime Minister. He then called for a mid-term election in December of that year, in which he led the Conservative Party to its biggest victory in recent times. But after the Partygate revelations, challenges began to mount for him within the Conservative Party.

Johnson cites former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill as his role model. Since leaving the post of Prime Minister, he has repeatedly discussed that after losing the election in 1945, Churchill made a strong comeback in 1951. But Conservative Party MPs and other activists have called this comparison baseless in general discussions. Most of them do not think that Johnson will be able to replicate Churchill’s charisma
