Uttarakhand: State Public Service Commission Chairman Dr. Kumar resigned, one and a half year tenure remained in discussions

Dr. Rakesh Kumar has resigned from the post of Chairman of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). Rakesh Kumar took over the responsibility of the chairman of UKPSC on 22 December 2021. Rakesh Kumar’s tenure as the chairman of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission was for six years, but only after one and a half years, Rakesh Kumar has resigned from the post of chairman on Saturday. However, Rakesh Kumar has said to resign due to personal reasons.
Have handled responsibility in many districts
Let us tell you that Rakesh Kumar is a 1992 batch IAS of Uttarakhand cadre, who has also been the District Magistrate of Pauri, Nainital and Dehradun. Along with this, as secretary in Uttarakhand, he has held important responsibilities in all the departments including education, health, disaster management and revenue.
Has been a consultant in the United Nations Development Program
However, before taking over as the chairman of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC), Rakesh Kumar was working as India’s chief advisor to the United Nations Development Programme. After the issue of paper leak in Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC), the responsibility of filling Group-C posts was also entrusted to the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission by the government. However, in UKPSC also, there were cases of rigging in some recruitment examinations, after which UKPSC also came under the scanner. During that time also, there was a demand for the resignation of Rakesh Kumar, who was holding the post of chairman. Many people have also been arrested during the investigation. Not only this, at present all the recruitment examinations are being organized by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. Meanwhile, Chairman Rakesh Kumar has resigned citing personal reasons.
