ICC punishes Shubman Gill for tweeting, entire team India also fined

Nothing seems to be going right for Rohit Sharma’s men after their 209-run loss to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The entire Indian team has now been fined by the ICC. The ICC said on Monday that the Indian team was deducted its entire match fee due to its slow over-rate. Rohit & Co were bowled five overs short of the target, due to which action has been taken against them.

Along with India, Australia has also been fined for slow over rate. The Australia team was bowled 4 overs short in the stipulated time. For this, 80 percent match fees of the players of the team have been deducted. Indian captain Rohit and Australia captain Pat Cummins accepted their momentum. Because of this no hearing took place.

Gill also fined
Apart from this, Indian opener Shubman Gill has also been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for showing displeasure at the umpire’s decision. Thus, Gill’s total fine became 115 per cent. Gill was controversially given out in India’s second innings. He was caught in the slip by Cameron Green. The third umpire declared Gill out considering the catch as correct. He had posted on Twitter and Instagram showing his displeasure over this decision. Along with this, one demerit point has also been given to Gill.
