57 Islamic countries agitated over burning of religious books, convened emergency meeting, issued this strict message

There is a stir in the whole world over the burning of a copy of the Quran, the holy book of Islam, in Sweden. On the occasion of Bakrid, a person carried out this incident outside the mosque, after which voices of protest started rising from Europe to America including all Islamic countries. Now the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC), an organization of 57 countries, held an emergency meeting on this matter and issued a strong message to the international community.

On July 2, OIC Secretary General H.E. Hussein Brahim Taha called a meeting of the organization’s executive committee. This meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In the meeting, on behalf of the organization’s general secretary, it was said that on the first day of Bakrid, when all the Muslims were celebrating Eid, this incident is very unfortunate. The organization’s general secretary has described the incident that took place outside the Central Mosque in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, as disgusting.

On behalf of the General Secretary, it was said that burning a copy of the Quran and insulting Prophet Mohammad are not normal incidents of Islamophobia. That’s why we should repeatedly remind the entire international community about International Law so that the atmosphere of religious hatred can be stopped.

This statement of OIC is being considered very important. Because 57 Islamic countries are included in this organization. It is also considered the largest and most influential Islamic organization in the world. This includes countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Pakistan and Kuwait.

After the incident of burning a copy of Quran, other Islamic countries including Iran and Turkey have reacted strictly to this incident. Turkey has already been opposing Sweden joining NATO and now this incident has made it more aggressive. Iran has also blamed the Swedish government for the incident and refused to send its ambassador to Stockholm.

At the same time, the US Foreign Ministry has also issued a statement regarding this incident. It has been said from the US side that burning of religious texts is not good and such incidents cannot be accepted.
