Warning of heavy to heavy rain in 7 districts of Uttarakhand, 14 major instructions given to District Magistrates

An alert of heavy rain has been issued in Uttarakhand on July 16 and 17 by the India Meteorological Department, Dehradun.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Dehradun, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. Along with heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places, there is also an alert of lightning accompanied by thunder at some places. There is a possibility of very intense to very intense spell of rain. In this situation, the government has given 14 major instructions to the district magistrates of these districts. you read too

  1. Traffic control should be exercised while maintaining alertness and security at every level.
  2. In the event of any disaster, information should be exchanged immediately by taking quick terrestrial action.
  3. All the nominated officers and departmental nodal officers of disaster management IRS system will remain on high alert.
  4. NH. PWD, PMGSY, ADB, BRO, WB, CPWD etc. will ensure immediate opening of any motor road in case of obstruction.
  5. All Revenue Sub-Inspectors, Village Development Officers, Gram Panchayat Officers will remain in their respective areas.
  6. All outposts / police stations will also be on high alert with disaster related equipment and wireless.
  7. Mobile phones/phones of any officer/employee will not remain switched off during the said period.
  8. Officers will take proper action to keep raincoat, umbrella, torch, helmet and some necessary equipment and materials in their vehicles from their own level.
  9. Food and medical arrangements should be made in case people are stranded during the said period.
  10. In view of the safety of the students, care should be taken in the schools.
  11. Tourist movement should not be allowed in the high Himalayan regions during warnings of abnormal weather, heavy rains.
  12. Obstacles of drains and culverts should be removed in the city and town areas.
  13. The District Information Officer will ensure that this information is disseminated to the general public through visual and print media.
