Team India’s “this weapon” overshadowed the Windies, Siraj got five wickets

No one had thought about what happened on the fourth day of the second Test against the Windies. At the end of the third day, the hosts’ score was 229 for 5 wickets, but when the game started on the fourth day, the Windies’ shop was ruined in no time. The conditions of the batsmen remained like Ayaramaj-Gayaram. And the host team could score only 255 runs in the first innings. Means the Widdies lost the last five wickets within just 26 runs and Siraj became havoc and broke down on the Windies tails, who took five wickets for 60 runs in 23.4 overs bowled. And the reason for this was the decision taken by Team India on the first day.

The “weapon” proved to be very lethal

It was decided to take the second new ball during the 103 overs of the innings. According to the rules, a team can take the second new ball after eighty overs, but India took this decision with a delay of 23 overs. With the second new ball, India got good swing on Saturday, but got results in the early hours of the fourth day. Wickets started coming from the very first over of the day, then with the excellent swing and seam, Siraj soured the teeth of the Windies tailenders. The entire innings of Windies ended in 115.4 overs. Meaning Windies lost five wickets within 12 overs i.e. 60 balls. And India’s second new ball weapon proved to be very lethal.

Siraj raised his second paw

Siraj is playing the 21st Test of his career against the Windies. And in his career, the claw has come from his balls only for the second time. Earlier, in the year 2021, he took five wickets against Australia in Brisbane. And now this is the second time when he has tasted the paws. Overall, Siraj has accumulated 59 wickets in 21 Tests till this point. By the way, Siraj has taken four wickets four times in the innings.
