It is really shocking and shameful for an MP to ask a question after taking money: Rajeev Chandrashekhar
On the alleged ‘cash for question’ controversy involving Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar on Monday said it is really shocking and shameful for an MP to ask a question in Parliament at the behest of a data center company.
Rajeev Chandrashekhar on social networking site ‘X’ said that he had learned from some news reports that a company was actively and aggressively advocating for data localization. The language used in the question asked by the MP is very similar. Such as linking the need for data localization to data breaches. The head of this company had told him this during the meeting in the same language.
He said, “I don’t know the full facts or background to this – but if it is true then it is a terrible irony and misuse of the question.”
In response to this, Mahua Moitra said that her ability to think and understand should not be insulted by accusing her of promoting others. She said that she is a member of the IT Committee and JPC on Data Protection. This is an important question to be raised by all Indians. If an enemy country can steal data from the app – can’t they steal Indian user’s data stored abroad?
It is noteworthy that Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra of asking questions after taking money. He has demanded an investigation by the inquiry committee on these allegations.
Nishikant Dubey has alleged that Lok Sabha member Mahua has taken bribes and gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranand in return for asking questions. Dubey has demanded that Mahua’s membership should be suspended with immediate effect.
