Village action plan of 51 marginal villages of Uttarakhand will be sent to the Government of India by 23 October – ACS Radha Raturi

Additional Chief Secretary Home Radha Raturi participated in the review meeting of the very important scheme of the Government of India “Vibrant Village Programme” under the chairmanship of Home Secretary, Government of India Ajay Kumar Bhalla through virtual medium. Four states and all the central ministries participated in this meeting. In the meeting, the Home Secretary has instructed the State of Uttarakhand to prepare Village Action Plan of 51 marginal villages very soon and send it to the Government of India. Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi informed that the village action plans will be sent by 23 October. He requested the Government of India to also give the right to view the portal of VVP (Vibrant Village Programme) to the State Government so that the compliance can be done quickly. ACS urged that local procurement should be done by ITBP and Army from the villages located on the China border, this will increase the means of livelihood and prevent migration. On the above requests, positive assurance was given to the State Government by the Home Secretary, Government of India.

It is noteworthy that these relevant issues were also discussed in the meeting of the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister on October 7. It is known that under the Vibrant Village Programme, the Government of India is working to empower the border villages. In these villages, the government wants to provide road connectivity, drinking water, electricity including solar and wind energy, mobile and internet connectivity, tourism centres, multipurpose centers and health infrastructure and health welfare centres. It is being started from the hilly and border states of the country.

Under the Vibrant Village Programme, 2967 villages have been identified in 46 blocks of 19 districts along the northern border of the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh. In the first phase, 662 villages have been identified on priority basis, which include 455 villages of Arunachal Pradesh, 75 of Himachal Pradesh, 35 of Ladakh, 46 of Sikkim and 51 border villages of Uttarakhand.
