Para Asian Games: India created a record in Asian Games, won a century of medals in Asian Games
Indian para athletes created history on Saturday and ended their campaign at the Hangzhou Para Asian Games by winning 111 medals, India’s best performance in any major international multi-sport tournament. Indian para players won 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze. Earlier, India had won 107 medals in the Hangzhou Asian Games held from September 23 to October 8. India finished fifth in the medal table.
China topped with 521 medals (214 gold, 167 silver and 140 bronze), while Iran stood second with 131 medals (44 gold, 46 silver and 41 bronze). Japan finished third with 150 (42 gold, 49 silver and 59 bronze) and Korea finished fourth with 103 (30 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze).

Won 111 record medals, Indian athletes dominate in Para Asian Games after Asiad
Indian players won maximum medals in athletics with 55 medals while badminton players won 21 medals including four gold. Eight medals were won in chess and seven in archery while shooters won six medals. On the last day on Saturday, India won 12 medals including four gold. Of these, seven medals were won in chess, four in athletics and one in sailing.

Indian Paralympic Committee President Deepa said, 111 is an auspicious figure. The first Para Asian Games were held in Guangzhou in 2010 in which India stood 15th after winning 14 medals. After this, India was ranked 15th in 2014 and ninth in 2018. India won more than 100 (101) medals for the first time at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.
Indian Paralympic Committee President Deepa Malik said, ‘We have created history. Our para athletes have made the country proud. Now Paris will win more medals in Paralympics than Tokyo. We are not surprised by this performance. We were hoping to get medals between 110 to 115 and 111 is an auspicious figure.
