68 year old Indian American Jasmer Singh lost his life after being beaten over a trivial matter, now the attacker has been accused of hate crime.

Indian American Jasmer Singh (68 years old) came to America from India to raise his family. Was a resident of Queens city of New York. On October 19, he was attacked by accused Gilbert Augustin. He died due to injuries sustained in this attack. Augustin has been accused of a hate crime in this matter.

Queens resident Gilbert Augustin, 30, was driving in the borough on Oct. 19 when Jasmer Singh’s vehicle collided with his, causing the crash, according to the office of Queens County District Attorney Melinda Katz.

The accused had injured Singh by punching him.

As the dispute between the two drivers escalated, Augustin allegedly repeatedly called the turban-wearing Singh “turban man,” prosecutors said in a news release, according to CNN. Prosecutors said then, Augustin ultimately punched Singh three times in the head and face, causing Jasmer Singh to fall and hit his head on the sidewalk.
