In fact, when a big bundle of expensive sarees arrived at Shastri Nagar police station in Chennai on Wednesday, the policemen thought that someone had sent them a gift for Diwali. But soon after, a call came from Vijayawada Police of Andhra Pradesh that these were the sarees stolen from a shop in Besant Nagar on October 28. Chennai Police is planning to search for half a dozen women captured in the shop’s CCTV cameras.
CCTV footage revealed that half a dozen women were seen roaming around the shop, some of them engaging the shopkeeper in other work and creating ‘shields’ for the remaining two women so that they could wear silk sarees under their sarees. Police searching for women’s gang

Vijayawada Police traced the suspects who sent the sarees back to the police station to escape from the police. Police said that they would not be able to escape as Chennai Police was planning to go to Vijayawada after Diwali and arrest the gang.
