Again lapse in PM Modi’s security, then Firozpur SP was negligent in duty, Punjab DGP suspended
In the matter of lapse in security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has taken action and suspended the then SP Operation Gurvinder Singh Sanga of Ferozepur. He was currently posted in Bathinda. In the investigation report, Gurbinder Singh Sanga has been held guilty of negligence in his duty. This incident took place on January 5, 2022, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going from Bathinda to Hussainiwala in Firozpur by road to attend a program.
Farmers stopped the highway by parking tractors on the way. Some protesters came very close to his car carrying black flags. PM Modi’s convoy stopped at Pyare Ana flyover in Ferozepur for 20 minutes. Then the SPG deployed in the security of PM Modi took charge. When the road did not open, PM Modi’s convoy had to return. He reached Bhisiana Airport in Bathinda and returned to Delhi from there. PM Modi had told the officials present at Bhisiana Airport, ‘Thank your CM, I have returned alive’.
Gurbinder Singh Sanga was posted as Firozpur SP (Operation)
At that time Gurbinder Singh Sanga was posted as Firozpur SP (Operation). After this incident he was transferred to Bathinda. Gurbinder Singh has been suspended on the instructions issued by Punjab Home and Justice Department Secretary Gurkirat Kripal Singh. During the suspension, he will remain attached with the DGP office, Chandigarh. He will not be able to leave the DGP headquarters without permission. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court had formed a committee to investigate this matter.
After one year, action has been taken by Punjab Police in this matter
In the case of lapse in security of PM in Ferozepur, the investigation committee constituted by the apex court in its report had blamed the then Chief Secretary of Punjab Anirudh Tiwari and DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyay. The committee had submitted its investigation report to the Supreme Court and the Central Government in August 2022. On the basis of this report, the Center had written a letter to the Punjab Government in September 2022 to take action against the guilty officials. After a year, action has been taken by Punjab Police in this matter.
