Chief Minister paid tribute to martyred Squadron Leader Abhimanyu Rai at his residence

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday reached the residence of martyred Squadron Leader Abhimanyu Rai at Jaintanwala and paid tribute to him and consoled the bereaved family. During this, he offered floral tributes to the martyr’s portrait.

The Chief Minister prayed to God to give place to the virtuous soul at his holy feet and to give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this immense suffering. State Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi was also present on this occasion.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the Martyr Memorial on the occasion of Vijay Diwas at Gandhi Park, Dehradun on Saturday. On Vijay Diwas, the Chief Minister honored ex-servicemen and brave women by covering them with shawls and giving mementos. The Chief Minister also honored the students who secured first three positions in the essay and art competition organized on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that the amount given per day for food arrangements during the pre-recruitment training given to military dependents will be increased from Rs 80 to Rs 225 per trainee. Soldier dependent youth in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the state are given 56 days of free training by the Soldier Welfare and Rehabilitation Department, Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister said that today is a day to celebrate the indomitable courage, bravery and valor of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. The war of 1971 was a war of victory of humanity over inhumanity, virtue over evil and justice over injustice. On this day in the year 1971, more than 93,000 soldiers of Pakistan had surrendered before our brave soldiers. This was the largest surrender of any army after World War II. This war was a direct example of the unwavering determination and sacrifice of the heroes of India. The Chief Minister said that the land of Uttarakhand, along with being the land of Gods, is also the land of bravery and sacrifice. In the Indo-Pak war of 1971, 255 soldiers of Veerbhoomi Uttarakhand sacrificed their lives to protect Mother India. 74 soldiers of the state, who showed their indomitable courage and valor in this war, were honored with various gallantry medals. The immortal stories of sacrifice of all such heroes continue to inspire our youth even today.

The Chief Minister said that as per the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the construction work of the Panch Dham Military Dham in Dehradun is in progress. This Dham will be a humble tribute from our side to all those heroes who sacrificed their lives for the glory of the tricolor without caring for their own lives. This military base will act as a divine inspiration for the worship of the nation for the coming generations. The morale of the soldiers has increased rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today our soldiers are equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and world class equipment is being provided for their support and security. Today the morale of our soldiers is so high that they are capable of entering the enemy’s house and taking action against them.

The Chief Minister said that as the Chief Servant of Uttarakhand, his endeavor is to make special schemes for military families, so that a soldier does not have to worry about his family while fighting in the war. The state government is fully committed to increasing the facilities provided to the soldiers and their families under the guidance of the Prime Minister. The state government has also increased the lump sum grant amount payable to soldiers awarded gallantry medals of Uttarakhand. Under which the soldier awarded with Paramvir Chakra will be given Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh, Mahavir Chakra from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh, Kirti Chakra from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh, Veer Chakra and Shaurya Chakra from Rs. 15 to 25 lakh and Army Gallantry Medal from Rs. 07 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh. Approval was given. The pension of the soldiers and veterans who participated in the Second World War from Uttarakhand has been increased from Rs 8 thousand to Rs 10 thousand per month. The monthly pension of freedom fighters and their widows has been increased from Rs 21 thousand to Rs 25 thousand.

On this occasion, Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Khajan Das, Secretary Soldier Welfare Deependra Chaudhary, District Magistrate Dehradun Smt. Sonika, SSP Ajay Singh, Director Soldier Welfare Brigadier Amrit Lal (Retd), Major General Sammi Sabarwal (Retd), Rear Admiral O.P.Singh Rana (Retd), Brigadier KG Bahl (Retd) and former military officers and veterans were present.
