Single screen theater owner’s anger on Shahrukh, said – left us suffering due to the earning of ‘Dunki’
Box office has witnessed that whenever two big films are released together in theatres, one or the other film has to suffer the loss. By the end of the year, there is going to be a huge fight between two big films in theatres. On one hand, while Shahrukh’s ‘Dinky’, who has given two bumper films this year, is being released, on the other hand, ‘Bahubali’ actor Prabhas’s ‘Salaar’, which is surrounded by criticism regarding ‘Adipurush’, is also being released. Now the enthusiasm of the audience regarding both the films has increased a lot. Advance booking of these films has started from Saturday. According to the report of sacnilk, where 258K tickets of ‘Dinky’ have been sold and the film has taken advance booking of Rs 7.55 crore gross. Whereas ‘Salar’ has collected Rs 6.10 crore by selling 250.2K tickets in advance booking. Although advance booking of both the films is going on at a rapid pace, the owners of single screen theaters are facing a lot of trouble.
Manoj Desai, executive director of G7 Multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema, is quite upset. Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dinky’ is releasing on Thursday, 21st December and ‘Salaar’ will be released in theaters a day later i.e. on Friday, 22nd December. Now advance booking of these films is being done extensively in multiplexes, while many single screen theaters are shocked and worried at this time. In fact, they are not being given a chance for booking right now.
‘Whenever there is a clash, we are left alone’
When Bollywood Hungama talked to Manoj Desi about the advance booking of ‘Dinky’ and ‘Salaar’, he said, ‘We have not been given permission to open the booking. Not only our theatres, but all single screens have been instructed to put bookings on hold. In most multiplexes, booking is allowed only for Thursday. The film Donkey is releasing on Thursday and these people are not ready to fix the problem. They just want to give priority to multiplexes from where they get more revenue. Meanwhile, we are left to suffer. I am sorry for my language, but whenever there is a clash we are left alone. What do we do?’
Single screen has not started in Maratha temple
‘ZEE7 Multiplex’ (comprising 7 theatres) on Thursday started exclusive booking of ‘Dinky’ for the 1000-seater Gaiety, which is being managed by Manoj Desai. Recently, it was revealed that Shah Rukh Khan’s fans have arranged a show at the Gaiety at 5:55 am on the opening day of the release of ‘Dinky’. Bookings after Friday are still on hold. Booking has not started yet for Thursday in Single Screen Maratha Temple.
‘Somebody tell Shahrukh what is going wrong with his film’
Talking about this, Desai said, ‘One would be angry that a film is releasing in just three days and yet we cannot take advantage of it and sell tickets. They are ruining the film. Someone tell Shahrukh Khan what mess they are doing with his film.
