Uttarakhand: Played an important role in Silkyara rescue operation, CM Dhami honored 12 rat miners by covering them with shawls, gave honorarium of Rs 50-50 thousand

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday honored 12 rat miners who played an important role in digging the tunnel in the Silkyara Rescue Operation of Uttarkashi at the Chief Minister’s residence by covering them with shawls and also presented checks of Rs 50,000 each to all the rat miners.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the rat miners did the work of digging, cleaning and cutting pipes in the tunnel in difficult conditions without caring for their lives. Rat miners had a huge contribution in making the Silkyara rescue operation a success. He said that all the rat miners deserve congratulations and blessings for the dedication and hard work with which our rat miners contributed along with other agencies in making this rescue operation successful. On behalf of the people of the state, the Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to all the people who contributed to the Silkyara Rescue Campaign.

Rat miners, who made significant contribution in Silkyara Rescue Operation, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for being welcomed and honored in the state. He said that it is a matter of pride for him that he got the opportunity to contribute along with various agencies to save the lives of 41 people trapped in the tunnel. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi, District Magistrate Uttarkashi Abhishek Ruhela were also present.

Rat miners said it is an insult, not an honor

Rat miners who saved the workers from the tunnel are calling the money received as an insult. 41 laborers were trapped in Silkyara Tunnel for 17 days. The modern machine also failed. These rat miners acted as troubleshooters and rescued all the laborers.

Those rat miners hit the government with Rs 50,000 returning back he said, this is not an honor but an insult.
