Uttarakhand: CM Dhami took NCORD meeting, gave instructions to officials to prepare action plan for effective prevention of drugs

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while holding the state level NCORD meeting at the Secretariat on Friday, directed the officials to prepare an action plan for effective prevention of narcotics. He also directed to take continuous action under the NDPS Act to stop the circulation of intoxicants in the form of medicines. For this, a joint team should be formed and raids should be conducted. Immediate action should be taken regarding the operation of de-addiction centers being built in Haldwani and Kotdwar. To completely stop drug smuggling in the border areas of Uttarakhand, an intensive checking campaign should be conducted.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also administered the oath of ‘Yes to life, no to drugs’ to the village heads and ward members of 85 villages/wards identified under ‘Drug Free City-Drug Free Village’ through virtual medium. The Chief Minister said that all departments will have to make efforts to make Uttarakhand a drug-free state by 2025. He said that more and more youth should be included in this campaign. Police, Health, School Education, Higher Education, Social Welfare Department and District Magistrate at the district level should also run a large-scale awareness campaign for Drug Free Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister said that drug counseling centers should be made in all jails. Education department should include topics related to moral education and ill effects of drugs in the curriculum. Along with creating awareness for de-addiction, efforts should be made at every level to prevent drug abuse. The Chief Minister said that the police, major educational institutions and the higher education department should also prepare an effective action plan for de-addiction. All District Magistrates should try to ensure that their district is first free from drugs. He said that if there seems to be a need to create cells for de-addiction in major educational institutions, then they should be created.

In the meeting, government officials and district level officials gave their suggestions for de-addiction. On this occasion, suggestions were given related to forming drugs control clubs in universities, taking e-pledge for de-addiction, linking women self-help groups in de-addiction campaign, maximum use of modern technology to stop drug addiction, awareness campaign through various mediums. Went.

Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Abhinav Kumar, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Amit Kumar Sinha, Secretary HC were present in the meeting. Semwal, Dr. R.
