China angry over India’s naval exercises with Philippines, spews venom citing peace
Unhappy over the recent naval exercise between the Indian and Philippine navies in the disputed South China Sea, the Chinese military on Thursday said defense cooperation between the countries should not harm the interests of third countries and regional peace. China’s Defense Ministry spokesperson Sr. Col. Wu Qian said that China has taken cognizance of these reports.
China has always stressed that defense and security cooperation between concerned countries should not affect the interests of third parties or harm regional peace and stability. China is worried about military cooperation between the Philippines and other countries. Its coast guard ships recently confronted Philippine naval vessels to assert Beijing’s control over parts of the disputed South China Sea. Philippines also claims these areas.
The Philippine Navy this month alleged that Chinese vessels used water cannon to attack its ships. China claims most of the South China Sea. Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan have their own claims regarding this area. Without naming any country, Wu said the maritime dispute between China and the Philippines is a matter between Beijing and Manila and no third party has the right to interfere.
