Pakistan Election Commission on Saturday gave a big blow to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Election Commission of Pakistan said on Saturday that the nomination of former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been rejected for the general elections to be held in the country in 2024.

Imran Khan had filed nomination from two constituencies
According to the information, former Prime Minister Imran Khan had filed nomination papers from two constituencies. Officials of Imran Khan’s party- PTI said that the Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected the nomination papers filed from both the constituencies.
It is noteworthy that 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan was removed from the post of Prime Minister in April 2022, since then he has been embroiled in political and legal battles. He has been repeatedly alleging that the present government of Pakistan is harassing him.
Imran Khan is accused of illegally selling government gifts while holding the post of Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022. In this case, he was sentenced to three years in jail in August.
Imran Khan was told ineligible
Earlier, Imran Khan was disqualified from contesting elections due to corruption conviction. Despite this, he had filed nomination papers on Friday, which was canceled by the Election Commission today.
The Election Commission of Pakistan released the list of rejected candidates, saying that Imran Khan’s nomination was rejected because he was not a registered voter of the constituency. Also, the court declared him ineligible to contest elections.
