After this, BSP had fielded its candidates in the by-elections for Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha seats. From Azamgarh, SP’s Dharmendra Yadav had to face defeat at the hands of BJP’s Dineshlal Yadav alias Nirahua. BJP’s Ghanshyam Lodhi had also won in Rampur.
