Uttar Pradesh: Section 144 implemented in Ghaziabad, know why and for how long the ban will remain in place

In view of the upcoming festivals and Republic Day, Ghaziabad Police has imposed Section 144 in the district with immediate effect. According to the order of Ghaziabad Police, Section 144 will remain in force till February 29. Police say that Section 144 has been imposed in view of the Pran Pratishtha in Shri Ram Temple and other programs including 26 January. Along with this, Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is on 17 January, Pran Pratishtha program at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on 22 January, Jannayak Karpuri Thakur’s birth anniversary on 24 January and Republic Day on 26 January.
After this there are many festivals in February also. Basant Panchami festival is on 14th February, Sant Ravidas Jayanti on 24th February and Shabe Baraat on 26th February. Apart from this there are many competitive examinations. In view of security arrangements and protection of VIPs/distinguished dignitaries, Section 144 has been imposed to maintain peace and law and order in Ghaziabad Commissionerate and to curb anti-social elements. This order has been issued by the Additional District Magistrate/Additional Commissioner of Police, Commissionerate Ghaziabad on January 15.
There will be exemption on marriage and funeral procession
According to this order, five or more persons will not gather at any public place for dharna, procession/demonstration etc. without the order of the competent authority nor will they inspire anyone to do so. No person/group will organize any program during the festivals without the prior permission of the competent authority/concerned Magistrate. This ban will not apply to marriages and funeral processions. The sound intensity of DJ/loudspeaker during festivals will be as per the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.
These restrictions will remain in place
Also, no person/group of people belonging to a particular caste will go to their city/village/locality and other places and do any work which is likely to give rise to caste violence and other disputes. Any person in possession of any type of weapon, explosive substance or any such object which can be used in carrying out an attack. Will not carry knives, spears, spears, swords, razors etc. nor will they collect them at any place nor will they display them in public.
